Mill's Corporation
- The Mills Corporation is a self-managed real estate investment trust (REIT) that owns, develops, leases, manages, and markets 15 retail destinations in 13 states, totaling over 19 million square feet. Employing more than 1,350, Mills-owned facilities house major department stores, specialty retail outlets; off-price retailers; category-dominant stores; and dining and entertainment options. - Tempel Steel is the world's largest producer of magnetic steel laminations used in the electrical and electronic industries. Tempel has full manufacturing plants in the United States, Mexico, Canada, and China. The company's original system for managing fixed assets became inefficient and outdated. Installed on a mainframe, the system was inflexible and required a programmer for all reporting purposes. Once a depreciation report was distributed, it could no longer be recreated or run a second time. "I can remember one time when a new employee tossed the depreciation report, thinking it could be duplicated," says Connie Dovichi, senior accountant. "It took months for us to restore the assets and depreciation numbers to the prior year."

Last year, volunteers responded to 579 home fires, assisting families with clothes, food, replacement medications, a hotel stay and the first month's rent at a new home. Also, the chapter taught more than 18,000 people the lifesaving skills of CPR, first aid and the use of an automated external defibrillator. Children are taught water safety, first aid, and how to be safe when home alone, along with disease prevention and emergency preparedness. At the Red Cross, there is no such thing as a small disaster, they want everyone to be prepared.
